The Richland High School freshman created her own solar cells using zinc oxide nanostructures in her garage. Scientists are working on using the material as an alternative to the more costly silicone used in solar cells.

Dennis is now motivated to stay healthy so he can take care of his wife of 53 years, Doris, who has Alzheimer's and is seen reflected in their dining room window while tending to their garden.
