A broken water line creates a sheen of ice in front of the 7-Eleven at 1540 Jadwin Ave. in Richland. Store manager Shafique Ahmad says it's the second time the line, used to run sprinklers for the shrubs, has broken in a month, but since it and the main line are connected, they can't shut it off during cold weather without cutting off water to the store. "It's a piece of cake to fix it," he says, adding that they make sure to salt the affected sidewalk to keep it from icing over.
